About Talking Therapy

Person-centered therapy, also known as person-centered or client-centered counselling, is a humanistic approach that deals with the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously, rather than how a counsellor can interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.

COUNSELLING
A Person Centered Approach

The core purpose of person-centred therapy is to facilitate our ability to self-actualise - the belief that all of us will grow and fulfil our potential. This approach facilitates the personal growth and relationships of a client by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity. The counsellor aids this process, providing vital support to the client and they make their way through this journey

By offering a safe, comforting environment, the client is able to understand the past experiences that have impacted the way they feel about themselves or their abilities and take the steps to positive change. The person-centred approach can also help the client to:

  • find closer agreement between an idealised self and actual self

  • achieve better self-understanding and awareness

  • release feelings of defensiveness, insecurity and guilt

  • have a greater ability to trust oneself

  • develop healthier relationships

  • see improvement in self-expression

  • achieve a healthy sense of change overall

Connecting with one another

A walk in nature is its own form of therapy We all know the mental and physical benefits of exercise, but the gym doesn't compare to the great outdoors. Walking in nature has been proven to alter the blood flow and activity in your brain, reducing stress and anxiety.

With 'Walk and Talk', we can get the chance to connect in an open natural environment making it easier to be open.

With telephone and video counselling it can give you the opportunity to speak without having to meet them face to face. Also known as internet counselling, e-counselling, web therapy or remote therapy, this kind of counselling is a good solution for people who need counselling but cannot get to a therapist’s office or those who prefer to keep in contact at a distance from wherever they are.

Online counselling can provide a valuable service to you if you require therapeutic help but have shied away from it before due to either emotional or practical reasons.
